Career Management Resources and Activities

Finding Career Roadmaps for a New Era

In the wake of the pandemic, we recognise the important need for young adults to fortify their career management and resilience skills. Career Compass provides practical tools to navigate the complexities of the post-pandemic labour market.

We are committed to elevating the provision of lifelong guidance in our regions. On this page, you will gain access to a suite of 40 micro-learning resources linked to the Scottish Career Management Skills (CMS) framework. These resources serve as dynamic guides, offering insights and strategies for career development at every stage.

What is the Scottish Career Management Skills Framework?

  • The Scottish Career Management Skills (CMS) framework is a structured and comprehensive approach designed to empower individuals with the essential skills and knowledge needed to effectively manage their careers.

  • Developed to address the evolving dynamics of the modern workforce, the CMS framework outlines a set of key competences that individuals can develop at various stages of their educational and professional journey. These competences encompass self-awareness, career exploration, decision-making, goal setting, and transition planning.

  • By providing a cohesive structure for career development, the Scottish CMS framework serves as a guide for individuals to navigate the complexities of the job market, make informed choices about education and training, and adapt to changes in their career paths.

  • Through Career Compass, we have develop 40 short, self-paced learning resources for young adults which are all benchmarked to the Scottish CMS.

Our intention is that these resources not only enhance individual career management skills but also contribute to the overall resilience and adaptability of young adults in the post-pandemic economy.

Each of our 40 resources comprises a short video to introduce the topic, and then a self-paced activity for young adults, and a short lesson plan for educators and guidance professionals who may wish to use these resources in a facilitated session with learners.
